Teddy Bridgewater Doesn't Mind Waiting Behind Drew Brees

Aug 31, 2018 1:59 PM

Teddy Bridgewater is only under contract for the 2018 season, but he's open to remaining with the New Orleans Saints and learning behind Drew Brees.

The Saints acquired Bridgewater from the New York Jets earlier this week.

"I definitely don't mind waiting," he said. "For me, I get to take advantage of this opportunity to grow as a man and as a football player.

"I've been following this offense since I was in college, and to be able to be a part of it now, it's a great feeling. You watch the tape, you look at the numbers and things like that, and you say, 'Wow.' It's an opportunity to be a part of something like that.

"I don't mind waiting. I get to learn from one of the best players to ever play this game, get to be in the room with a great group of guys, get to learn from Coach Payton. So I look forward to that."

Anthem Resolution Unlikely By Week 1

Aug 31, 2018 8:09 AM

The NFL and NFLPA are encouraged by ongoing discussions on the league's national anthem policy, but a resolution is not expected by the start of the regular season, according to sources.

The NFL's executive committee met with select owners earlier this week to discuss the policy. The two sides labeled those talks "productive" while noting they "remain committed to working together on solutions."

The league's new anthem policy was unanimously approved by owners in May but put on hold last month.

Those in contact with the Raiders get the impression they have "no imminent interest" in dealing Mack.

Oakland has been offered a first-round pick and another high selection, but they are seeking at least two first-round selections for the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year.

According to the New York Daily News, the Jets are one of the interested clubs.

Rob Gronkowski Focused On Season, Not Contract

Aug 30, 2018 8:17 AM

A number of players have received lucrative contract extensions this offseason, but Rob Gronkowski isn't one of them.

"I'm always open for that," Gronkowski said.

The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract with the New England Patriots, which has base salaries of $8 million in 2018 and $9 million in 2019. He is currently the fourth-highest paid tight end in the NFL.

"I mean, it is what it is," Gronkowski said. "That's not really my focus. I got a long season ahead, and just trying to focus on what I need to really do and just let everything else play out."

The Los Angeles Rams have restructured the contracts of left tackle Andrew Whitworth and wide receiver Robert Woods.

The moves reportedly clear $7 million in cap space for this season, which will come in handy as the Rams attempt to sign Aaron Donald to a long-term deal.

The Rams are believed to be very close to an agreement with Donald.

Browns Release Mychal Kendricks Following Insider Trading Charge

Aug 29, 2018 9:35 PM

The Cleveland Browns have released Mychal Kendricks after he was charged with insider trading.

The Browns said they were aware of Kendricks' involvement prior to signing him to a one-year deal in June, but "circumstances have changed" and the team has elected to release him.

"I would like to apologize," Kendricks said in the statement released by his attorneys. "Four years ago, I participated in insider trading, and I deeply regret it. I invested money with a former friend of mine who I thought I could trust and who I greatly admired. His background as a Harvard graduate and an employee of Goldman Sachs gave me a false sense of confidence.

"To this point, I had worked my tail off since I was 5 years old to become a football player. I was drawn in by the allure of being more than just a football player. While I didn't fully understand all of the details of the illegal trades, I knew it was wrong, and I wholeheartedly regret my actions."
